The Health Information Technology Regional Extension Center Program
The New Mexico Health Information Technology Regional Extension Center (NM HITREC) is a consortium of three nonprofit organizations: LCF Research, the New Mexico Medical Review Association (NMMRA), and the New Mexico Primary Care Association (NMPCA). Each organization brings a special expertise to this collaborative effort to assist priority primary care providers throughout the state meet the challenges in embracing the national commitment to reach "meaningful use" of electronic health records (EHRs) to improve patient care.
NM HITREC will enroll more than 1,000 priority primary care providers working in small practices and underserved areas and provide technical assistance for adopting, implementing and upgrading EHRs to improve care.
Nationally, the HITRECs will support at least 100,000 priority primary care providers through participating non-profit organizations, in achieving meaningful use of EHRs to enable nationwide health information exchange.
